Frank Shelton is a studio artist living in Abiquiu, New Mexico. He received a Masters of Fine Arts in Painting and taught art and art history for thirty-four years. Frank presently works in mixed-media painting and sculpture influenced by the colors, forms, textures and light in the Southwest and has been represented by numerous art galleries over his career. Frank now balances his time working in his studio and leading tours at the Georgia O’Keeffe home and studio in Abiquiu, New Mexico. My process of working may best be described by paraphrasing a quote from the late Israeli artist, Moshe Kupferman. “ I first put in emotion and expression. Next, I cover it up. Then, I put in silence “. While the products and process are important to me, I feel both are dead without passion. It is the passion that sustains me.
