Handcrafted bird houses from local woods
Stan Bader, a craftsman based in Abiquiú, New Mexico, creates unique handcrafted birdhouses from cottonwood and barn wood. His functional birdhouses are specifically created for bluebirds, chickadees, nuthatches and other cavity-nesting birds. After carefully selecting downed cottonwood limbs, Stan begins the process of hollowing out the wood to create the perfect space for nesting birds. The wood is carved from two directions, sanded and finished with natural oils. The lid of barn wood is then fitted and secured. These birdhouses are built to provide a safe place for our beautiful feathered friends for many years. Stan and his wife, Arin, operate a small vineyard, keep bees, grow acres of hay and provide memorable experiences to Abiquiú area visitors in their guest casita.
